Boat History and Recent Work

This beautiful Beneteau sloop came to us having been used very little recently after being in dry storage at Everett Marina the past few years.  This also meant she needed lots and lots of clean up and attention to repairs, system details and appearances.  The wing keel showed significant corrosion and was ground out, correctly sealed, faired and refinished.  The keel was epoxy coated, the hull below the waterline was sanded bare, faired with two epoxy filler prime coats followed by two coat of bottom paint for all.  She’s smooth as can be below the waterline.  While undergoing hull work in the yard we had a hull survey completed as well.  The report is good; no issues about blisters or structural defect or damage.  That report will be provided to her new buyers at no cost, saving you the additional expenses of another haul out and survey.  

She’s got a new battened mainsail fabricated by Ballard Sails installed in late June.  The roller furling jib was inspected, cleaned and a new UV protection strip applied as well.  There is also a brand new black mainsail cover from Lee Sails. The running rigging was in need of a proper cleaning, too.  

The interior received a couple of very thorough cleanings.  All of the cushions and mattresses were sent out to be professionally cleaned and are in fine condition.  The bilge and engine compartment got detailed as well.  The boat smells clean, fresh … no unpleasant ‘boat smells’… yay!

The Volvo engine is running well and she’s mechanically sound with fewer than 500 hours.  There were myriad other small mechanical, electrical and plumbing repairs to attend to as well.  Portlights sealed where needed; batteries and pumps replaced where faulty; wiring connections replaced, bulbs, fuses, switches as needed; hose clamps, toilet plumbing, gaskets and small fittings as well.  And finally, proper installation of the existing VHF and Jensen CD Stereo into the electrical panel cabinet.

The old cockpit dodger was no longer useable.  The stainless steel frame was removed, polished and is available.  The frame is designed to mount canvas from Iverson’s Design.  We spoke with their shop in Olympia but elected not to go ahead with new canvas simply because that should be the new owner’s choice for their design preferences, style and colors.  

We believe her to be in her very best condition now, with lots of good, useful equipment and spares aboard.  She’s all ready to go for your Summer and Fall sailing season.

 About Our Pacific Marine Foundation

We are selective about the vessels we accept into our program and we pursue a very rigorous process before they are listed for sale.  This begins when we first meet with our donors to discuss the condition and recent upkeep of their boat.  Once accepted, each new arrival undergoes a thorough examination similar to what a marine surveyor will do.  This allows us to prioritize our attention to any deferred maintenance or repairs that may be needed.

Over the years we have performed just about every kind of marine repair, from electrical and plumbing issues to all types of appearance enhancements and even rebuilding engines.  If something is not working right we fix it, simple as that.  We prove that her electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems are correct, safe and functioning properly.  By doing all of this we know our boats quite well from top to bottom and present them fairly and honestly to buyers.

We encourage you to have our boats professionally surveyed as a part of your purchase process.  By the time we’ve finished and the boat is advertised, we’re confident you will receive a strong report from your surveyor.
